Types of Engineering Programs
With chemistry and biochemistry skills in clutch, undergraduates can work in biotechnology
fields including manufacturing, pharmaceutical, energy, materials, biotechnology and many others.
For undergraduates, this is a program that offers 5 types of areas to specialize in: architecture and engineering, environmental engineering, geological engineering, structural engineering, and engineering and the liberal arts. Major in this department if you want to focus on building things that are for the environment.
Major in Computer Science if you want to focus on technical development, potentially working at FAANG or Silicon Valley. This major provides opportunities for study in software systems, algorithms and complexity, machine architecture, computer graphics, programming languages, machine learning, and other core areas of computer science.
If you want to focus on the hardware aspect of technology, majoring in computer engineering would be a great combination of electrical concepts and computer science concepts, equipping you with knowledge to potentially specialize in areas such as chip design, microprocessing, etc.
If you have an interest in NASA or building transportation vehicles and other special components, Mechanical/Aerospace engineering is the fit for you. The core of the department’s curriculum — solid and fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, dynamics, control systems, materials and applied mathematics — are combined with the experience of engineering design.
This is a multifaceted major that applies to many careers, especially those in finance, hence the name financial engineering. It is a combination of science, math, engineering, and finance, which is what makes this major so versatile.
